About Malia

Things that move me, in no particular order:  Color, movement, flow, emotion; the sensory experience of being in a physical body; laughter, sadness, and all the layers in between.  I want to feel, and create feeling for you through my art.

While technique can be learned and even mastered, it is not until the artist lets go and allows a piece to move through that the artist is also set free. (Malia)

I am a self-taught painter for the most part, though I have learned from some amazing people along the way. I have painted for as long as I can remember.  I think I was simply born this way.  2007 was something of an epiphany year for me. I returned to my roots and refocused my career and my life on the things that fuel my joy and my heart, and I went back to school to study photography and Photoshop.  This new skill set has allowed me to expand from painting and drawing into photography, bringing a unique combination of techniques together in my work, and this is where you will find me today...exploring the Pacific Northwest with my family, capturing moments of natural beauty, and bringing that home to my studio where, with layer upon layer of thought, inspiration and action, each piece is born and delivered to you.
